Writing Blogs

This might be my last blog for T-COM evaluation because, we are expected to write twenty blogs for this and this is the twentieth one.
Blogs are what, which I never tried before coming to NCST. Earlier I used to think that it is simply wastage of time and only those people who have ample time can write it. But, I was wrong.

During our T-Com. session, we were told that it is part of our evaluation and it is compulsory to write it. So, every one started creating their blog id and started writing blogs.

We were unable to understand what to write as a blog. We were unable to think any topic, so, we often used to ask others about topics. From there we get habituated to write blogs.

While writing blogs, we often have to appear for some exams, so it seemed to be a burden for us. Most of us then did a copy and pasting technique. We used to copy from net and paste it there, without realizing that writing blogs are there to improve our English and essential for our evaluation. I had always written blogs on my own, but see my bad luck the first time when I copied only few contents from net for my blog, madam selected that blog to read. And as a result of copying I was failed in my first evaluation. The second one was my own write up. But what to do? nothing. Hope to get good grade this time.

Then I read those blogs which got "A" grade in evaluation. There I realised that no need to copy from net, write your own feelings. Blogs are the best way to express yourself and it also improves your writing skills. It is something like writing your diary. But your personal diary is somthing which is personal to you. No one is supposed to read it without your permission. But blogs are open to every one any one can read it.

But the best part of writing a blog is to receive beautiful comments from your friends. I mean, it really brings a smile to your face when you see "1 comment" posted on your blog. It gives the feeling that some one is there to appreciate your work, to tell you about your mistakes. The efforts which you have put is not going in vain at all.
Now we often read each others blogs and post comments over there.
I think I am going to miss this part when our evaluation will be done, because I feel no one will take interest in writing blogs due to heavy studies and projects coming in next terms. But still it is really nice to write blogs.

Hope I could continue this blog writing after T-com evaluation too.

Super-Natural Powers.

"Supernatural powers". Do they really exist? I think it totally depends on our faith. If one believe in it,then it exists, otherwise not?

Some body relate it with science, but I personally feel that, it has a broad domain. Where science ends its boundary a new expansion of domain starts which we call supernatural powers.
Most of the times we often hear doctors saying "only prayer can save his life"(like:-" ab inhe dava ki nahi dua ki zarurat hai"). This simply indicates that even medical science has to rely on the existence of God.

I think most of us has never seen the God, but sometimes his presence is realized, and we tend to believe more and more in his existence.

One of my neighbour says that if you really want to feel that power and want to see the miracle happening in front of your eyes, just once visit "oneness university" at Verdepalam.
What is that? This was the question that came in my mind, first. He told me that this is an university which provides different kinds of preachings they call it "diksha".
Their main aim is to guide the youth to correct direction. They provide healing, which is there to solve your life problems. They provide you with solutions of problems occurring in your life.
But the charges he told me for all these kinds of dikshas are too high.

I thought that if this university is there for helping mankind then why to charge so much? There might be some reason behind that, which I am unable to understand, right now.

But, someday I would definitely go there to see the miracle happening in front of my eyes. Because people who visited that place have said so much about "healing" that it has increased my curiosity. They say that healing is that phenomena which resolves any kind of problem whether physical or psychological.
Physical and psychological ill health is caused by the imbalance in energies. They get disturbed due to various reasons such as life-style, dietary habits, living environment and emotional condition. These energies are embedded in different sheaths or layers of consciousness known as 'Koshas'. Healing works on these Koshas.

I do not know that whether it is true or not. But it has worked in several incidences, which forces me to believe its existence.

If you could find any thing interesting about these facts please share it with me.
Till then....

Hawthrone effect

"Hawthorne effect" is also known as demand characteristics, which means slight change in people's behaviour when they are observed by others. It is the phenomenon which is thought to occur when people observed during a research study, temporarily change their behavior or performance. It is generally used in studying organizational behaviour. But I want to relate it with our day-to-day life.

I want to cover it under the topic "projecting our self".
"First impression is the last impression."Is it always true? No, not in all situation. I mean to say that sometimes it works, but most of the time it does not.
As we start spending time together we often realize that what we previously observed about that person, is not exactly true. It is human nature that we often try to project our good qualities to others and try to hide our bad habits.

We all like to be appreciated, that is why sometimes we behave in extremely good manner(that good manner might not be inculcated in our nature, but just for appreciation we do it.) . And the person in front of us is bonded to praise and think good about us.

One incidence regarding this:

Once there were some guests were invited at my aunty's residence. So, she was very busy in cleaning and cooking. My younger cousin was watching it deeply. She was unable to understand why her mummy is doing lots of work. My aunt changed the bed-sheet of her bed-room too. Though the guests were not expected to visit that room. They all arrived on time, everything was successfully done. They were about to leave and were praising my aunty for good food and keeping her house so neat and clean. Then suddenly, my cousin interrupted saying, "you all have not seen those bed-sheets which mummy has changed today, previously an older one was there".
Every one was laughing on the spot.

This is what most most of us do when we get to know that someone is watching our behaviour. We try to project only our good qualities, trying to hide our bad qualities.

Favouring 20-20

Favouring 20-20 this was my stand in my Group discussion. Though I do not have much knowledge about cricket, still I favoured 20-20, because it gets over in short period of time.

Basically, 20-20 is that sort of cricket in which each team is allowed to play only for 20 overs( instead of 50 overs as in conventional one-days).
Now, everyone has to perform well in small span of time. That is everyone tries to give to give their best, and what comes out of this effort is a total entertainment, which audience and spectator enjoys.

What happens with earlier one-days or test matches is that due to their long innings, everyone gets bored, and excitements and enthusiasm is not maintained through out the session.
Whereas 20-20 is more output oriented. We get results within few hours. And today everyone wants results ultimately.
I have seen many people wasting their time in watching day-night matches and next day when they do not get result according to their will, they scold our team.
At least this does not happen with 20-20, due to its limited time constraints. Most of the time we get result. And also we can involve our self emotionally to the match. Since 20-20 is of limited time our players do not get much tired and they get ample time to relax and rest. By virtue of this, we can have more cricket seasons to see, instead of one or two in a year.

As we have transited from test matches to one days, there is no doubt that 20-20 is going to take place of one days, too. As it is more output oriented every body enjoys watching it. I mean, even I would definitely support it, because I have seen my brother sometimes watching matches in night, with low volume sound and next day he feels sleepy.
So, definitely 20-20 is a better option than others.

Following are the points in support of 20-20.
  1. It gets overed in limited numbers of overs, so saves time.
  2. It involves lots of energy and enthusiasm than test matches and one-days.
  3. Our players get ample amount of time to rest and relax, so they do not get tired or injured frequently.
  4. We get more cricket during the season, so more entertainment.
  5. Test matches are boring, and today no one wants to see boring games.

So, ultimately we can say 20-20 is the better option than one-days or test matches.

Group Discussion At T-com. Part II

Welcome once again. I have to tell you that what happened next. That means what happened in our group discussion.

When our turn arrived, everyone took their place according to roll number on the chairs kept in the center of class. Anupam started the discussion, he was favouring 20-20,so do I. Then I decided to grab the opportunity, by supporting his points. I was the second one, who took participation in the discussion. I supported my points by saying one days are very tiring and sometimes boring also. It is a wastage of time. In contrast 20-20 is more output oriented and it has more excitements involved as compared to one days.

While discussion I never hesitated to raise my points. This might be because, I have always interacted to rest of the team members out side the class, so I could express myself without any hesitation. Everyone was listening my points and was allowing me to speak(but, I know that, this will not happen in actual G.Ds.). Though I did not have much to contribute to the discussion, still I participated and tried.

My friend Nikhil and Monika were supporting me from back-bench, where ever they felt I am performing well. As I could see them from my position. That encouraged me.

Discussion was over after 10 mins. Now it was madam's turn to give her comments on our performance. I was nervous, because previously it was not good.
Madam was giving comments one by one. When she came to me, saying good. I was so happy and relaxed. Because I was not expecting this. Her comments really increased my confidence and willingness to perform well. Thank you Sawni madam (I thanked her there also.).
Hope to get these kinds of good comments on good performances, always.

Then my friends and batchmates, Nidhi, Poonam, Shipra, Pratibha, Moni, Abhijit, Amritanshu, Ajit, Nikhil, Monika, Chandrashekhar and all congratulated me on my performance.
It was really a nice feeling. It reminds me of my school friends, who always encouraged me on my good performance in my school.

At the end I would definitely thank my group members, Anupam, Chandrashekhar, Bhartendu and others for listening me, co-operating and supporting me.
Thank you Sawni madam for conducting G.D. Please do conduct some more group discussions, so that we can overcome our group discussion phobia.

Bye.

Group Discussion at T-COM Part I

Group discussion is an important part of any recruitment in s/w indusrty and also for our T-COM evaluation. It is required not only in software industry but also in other industries. SSB conducted by army, air force etc. also include group discussions as an important selection criteria.

We had a group discussion last week. Before that I never participated in any G.D. Though I have participated in several debates and extra-curricular activities in my school days, but with prior preperations and practice.

Madam distributed the topics on the spot, to eight different groups. Mine was second group and topic was "doing away from one-day cricket". That means our group had to discuss either in favour of 20-20 cricket or in favour of one-day cricket. This topic is considered to be from male dominated field(but now-a- days females have also involved themselves to this). But I myself do not like watching cricket. So, I have little knowledge of it. My brother loves cricket. So, he often tells me about techniques and rules of cricket now and then.
Based on his details,(which I could remember there) I listed some points.

I was nervous, because my previous presentation was a disaster for me. I was not able to present it properly, because of lack of practice. And because of nervousness and lack of practice I could not perform well that day.

Anyways, I thought, "I have to do it". I was the only girl in my group, and the topic was not all of my concern, so I decided to speak whatever I know with my past experience and rest is up to the god.

First group did well. The discussion went on for almost ten minutes.Madam was ready with her comments and suggestions, which we had to follow. We listened all those suggestions and tried to implement it.

Now, it was our turn. I did not have much to say, but I was ready with few points. I decided not to begin the discussion, first I have to listen others and then speak.

So what happened there I will tell you in my next blog, till then..................
Bye.
